Triathlon and Team Work

Very few teams have a team work as the Soccer Team Barcelona.  It took years to get to this point.  At Barcelona, coaches come and go and the results are very similar.  The coach is not a tactician but a politician capable to put the team full of stars to work.  Players know how to do it because they were chosen carefully to be part of the team.  Since the time of Johan Cruyff, we have seen how the team started to work; Johan Cruyff was the best when he played and he has the authority to say:
“Barcelona has huge administrative and dressing-room problems when a 21-year-old player earns more money than the ones that won everything.”
Having a winning team leaves very little space for this kind of mistakes.  Mourinho (ex-Real Madrid coach) speaks about it:
'You've left me all on my own. You're the most treacherous squad I've had in my life. Nothing more than sons of bitches.'

Cruyff can see that the problem is there, and it needs a solution to continue to work as a team.  Team work education is vital to perform in any team, and it takes years and intelligent people to get there.  The Kiwis were able to perform team work in Auckland when Tom Davidson pulled Ryan Sissons to the first pack, so Sissons could qualify for the Common Wealth Games.  It is refreshing to know that there are athletes capable to play as a team in triathlon.  Auckland is another game for triathletes but the same players are on top.  Actually, it is easier for the winners to win in Auckland than in a flat surface like London.  They are the same winners but a “wet run” is not possible to perform.  The bike is hard, and there are people that lost five minutes on the bike as it was the case of our competitors Grajales and Rivas.

The struggle between the organizers who love “wet runs” and the ones that consider bicycling is on.  Team work is needed in either one of the formats.
