Triathlon and Great Coaches

In a previous post we spoke about the Psychology of Champions:

PSYCHOLOGY OF THE CHAMPION II THE EDGE AND TRIATHLON, 13 avr. 2013

I mentioned something regarding the American Dream that I found in Wikipedia:
The American Dream is a national ethos of the United States, a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work. In the definition of the American Dream by James Truslow Adams in 1931, "life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement" regardless of social class or circumstances of birth.[1]
The idea of the American Dream is rooted in the United States Declaration of Independence which proclaims that "all men are created equal" and that they are "endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights" including "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." [2]

The idea of freedom, prosperity and success cannot be possible without the great coaches one encounters.  These coaches influence your life to the point of no return.  Sebastian Coe mentioned one called Joe Newton, but many quiet coaches have existed like Newton, more importantly Sebastian’s father.

I remember my track coach named Bruce Gove in Alta Loma, California.  In 1978, he had the best 16 year old runner of the USA for the mile and two miles, Randy Brown, a friend and a teammate, half Native American who could not make it after leaving HS without Bruce.  Bruce taught me what quality, honor and passion were; he was able to stay the 10 miles of training with us, running!  Thanks Randy for showing me courage!  You came a long way a very few people knew about it.  Albert Einstein said:  "Example isn't another way to teach, it is the only way to teach."

Education is what makes the Psychology of Champions. The same Einstein said:  “The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.” Polishing a well-educated kid is not a great endeavor, almost any kind of training is good enough; educating the kid is a real task.
