Zygmunt Bauman use the word “precariat” to describe
the people who suffer the most with changes which will make them more
susceptible to losing privileges.
Precariat is the substitute of “proletariat” in the globalized world
without the support of a class.
Precariat will hold changes or even human rights to avoid changes. We have plenty precariat to promote an unfair
competition. Our societies and type of
schooling is producing more precariat:
What issues do, in
your opinion, differentiate precariat most distinctly from proletariat? To what
extent can one connect the two notions? And finally: is precariat a social
class?
Well, I have serious doubts about that. I would prefer to call precariat
a social category. The mere similarity of situation is not enough to transform
an aggregate of individuals bearing similar characteristics into a “class” –
that is, into an integrated group willing to pursue common interests as well as
proceeding to integrate and coordinate actions stemming from that will. If
workplaces of the times of “solid modernity” were, irrespective of the kind of
products manufactured, also the factories of social solidarity, liquid-modern
workplaces are, irrespective of their business objectives, the producers of mutual
suspicion and competitiveness.
Sports are suffering because money is the incentive
and the precariat is a majority in them.
Soccer and Football are well globalized and the precariat promotes
racism and limiting foreigners to keep the status quo; foreigners are less
expensive as in the case of Mexico. In
Soccer, an Argentinian or Chilean is less expensive than a National with the
same skills. In triathlon, the precariat is the strongest supporter to stop
free competition to happen allowing criteria other than the one getting first wins
the race in a triathlon. The precariat
is paid by the Mexican Federation. The
Mexican Federation promotes the culture of “precariat” in athletes to continue
the business.
The force of precariat is being present for years in
Mexico for Soccer to the point that they do not have a saying when they are
sold. Rafael Marquez (ex-Barza) wants to
create a union with the fear of creating another precariat, the union-precariat
after certain years that could become a bureaucratic entity. Are we going to be capable to improve the
precariat level to be able to better-fair competition around the world? The understanding that our Western industry
created the Global Warming, and as a consequence the ecological disaster we see
in the world, including the migration of people that lost everything they
fought for, is necessary to teach and learn.
The above is among the many things to teach to be a better human being
and have a chance to survive as a human race.
We have seen the surge of the precariat in Mexico
after the Mexican Revolution; the third generation of Migrants in USA became
precariat. Trump won because of this
precariat described by Bauman.
